When should I study
abroad or off-campus?
The best time is second half of your sophomore year through
the first half of your senior year. It will depend on your major and minor and courses
you need at different times. Begin a conversation with your advisor, faculty in
your major and minor fields and the office of Global and Off-Campus Programs
your freshman year so you can sequence major and general education courses
properly.
Where should I study
abroad and off-campus?
The decision of where to study will depend on what courses
you need to take and your level of comfort with different cultures and living
situations. Malone has a set number of programs that we have investigated that
meet our academic criteria’s. Look at the programs that are available on this
site.
What courses will I
take off-campus?
This depends on your major. There may be courses available
off-campus that fill your major, minor, general education requirements or free
electives. It is usually a combination that moves you toward graduation. The
application process includes getting pre-approval for your courses. The
specific web sites of the various programs will list specific courses
available.
What does it cost to
study off-campus?
The cost varies with the destination. For out of country
locations you will need a passport, possibly shots and maybe a visa. You will
need to cover your transportation costs to and from the location. The actual
location costs are equal to Malone in some cases and cost more in other cases
because of differences in the cost of living in different parts of the country
and the world. At one point in the process you will visit our financial aid
office and our business office to clarify the particular costs for you and the
program you have chosen. Look at the “Resources” section of this site to find
some additional financial aid options.
